Hydroponics
Our cutting-edge Environmental and biomedical Engineering class became one of less than twenty high schools in the nation to help students create and grow an indoor hydroponics system. In the video produced by the school district, I stepped up and was the student spokesperson for th project that had never been done in the state before.
Mapping the carbon footprint of Lakeville South High School and proposing beneficial changes.
I worked for months with my mentor, school principal, superintendent, deans, and janitors to gather all the information available regarding the consumption and waste of LSHS. Also performed by own studies within the research, such as counting the number of plastic water bottles thrown at lunch, how much people recycle, and how much paper we use. Once I finished, I made some recommendations on simple ways to adjust our carbon footprint as a school.
Spanish Immersion in Costa Rica
Maximo Nivel
This is a full immersion experience that integrates the Spanish language into all aspects of the program, including community service, sports, cultural activities, and tourism. We experienced different cultural activities and tours in the morning and received three hours of Spanish classes per day afterward. We lived with host families who only spoke Spanish and experienced the culture of Costa Rica.
